I attend the autumn "fire walking" festival at Daishon Temple on Miyajima. This is one of my favorite temples in Japan as it is very active. There always seems to be someone beating on drums, chanting, or ringing the temple. I ascend the temple steps past the several hundred statues of buddha. The scent of incense hangs in the air.
