With dreams beating, conch shells blowing, and chanting the monks light the fire. People pray as they monks go though thousands of prayer sticks and then toss them on the fire for the prayers to ascend to the heavens. The flames reach 10 meters high. As the fire turns to embers the monks perform the fire walking ritual symbolizing protection.
