Menie's older brother, Orlando was my tour guide for the day. Here we are in Rizal Park. It is a beautiful park in the middle of Manila. Named after Dr. Jose Rizal the Philippine national hero who dreamed of Philippine independence from Spanish colonial rule. Rizal was a medical doctor, writer, painter, and sculpturer. He wrote several books concerning an independent Philippines and insighted the masses. When the revolution broke out in 1896 he was condemned to death by the Spanish rulers and executed by firing squad in this park.
